Omri Bloch

Omri is our world traveler. He spent a year backpacking through 25 countries, and came up with the idea for Nuru Project while in Malawi. For his day (and night) job, Omri works for BlackRock in their Financial Markets Advisory Group consulting major financial institutions on the current market turmoil. Omri graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Psychology and Political Science.

Chris McAleenan

Chris is our start-up specialist. His start-ups include LaunchHost, acquired in 2001, and Freshman Fund, acquired in 2009. After successful for-profit experiences, Chris decided to give a non-profit start-up a go. Chris has traveled in the developing world, including to Africa on his honeymoon (congrats Chris and Julie!). He graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Psychology and a concentration in Computer Science.

Daniel Murray

Daniel is our finance person. After watching his former industry (mortgage-backed securities) grind to a halt, Daniel is excited to work on something less market oriented. He has traveled in the developing world to South America where his 7th grade decision to study French instead of Spanish really paid off. Daniel currently works at UBP Asset Management researching the shrinking universe of hedge funds. He graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics.

JB Reed

JB is our photographer. In 2004, JB spent a Fulbright Fellowship documenting young people in Kenya’s Mathare Valley slums, which fueled an interest in photography as an agent for change. In response to the Kenyan post-election violence in January of 2008, he co-hosted the Fundraiser for Kenya photography auction that serves as the current model for Nuru Project shows. JB graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Economics and German Language.

Matt Watson

Matt is our artist. He broad- ens our artistic scope and deepens our artistic exper- tise. Matt currently works as a professional painter, both on commissioned portraits and as an assistant to Jeff Koons. He was the 2004 recipient of the Frederick M. Peyser Prize in Painting and has exhibited at the Botswana National Museum and Art Gallery. Matt graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Art.
